The 12th – 18th of September 2016 marks the annual Recycle Week. The week is organised by Recycle Now, a national campaigning group who are supported and funded by the Government
.
The initiative aims to encourage as many people as possible to recycle more frequently. The group has been extremely successful in their work with six out of ten Brits now describing themselves as ‘committed recyclers’. This is an impressive increase in comparison to less than half of the nation stating they were dedicated to recycling when the campaign began in 2004.
2016’s theme is ‘The Unusual Suspects’ and centres around encouraging the public to properly deal with items they may forget to recycle. Objects include deodorant cans, shampoo bottles and empty tissue boxes– items that perhaps aren’t near to your recycling bin in the kitchen so just get thrown away with standard waste.
Of course Recycle Now also encourages us to take care when disposing of the more typical papers, plastics and glass.
At McCarthy’s we are incredibly enthusiastic about recycling and helping our customers to do the same. Our shredding services guarantees the secure destruction of all of your confidential documents whilst also pledging to create zero landfill.
All of the shredded paper we receive is recycled into everyday products such as toilet rolls and hand towels. We like to think of ourselves as ‘committed recyclers’!
Did you know that in the manufacturing process of recycled paper, less air and water pollution is generated and less water and energy is required? You can find out more in our previous blog.
We have several shredding options available including regular shredding services, one-off or on demand shredding, the home shredding service
and finally hard drive and IT destruction. Each method comes complete with a certificate verifying that all documents have been disposed of safely and that they have also been properly recycled. If you’re a business this can be of great benefit for proving your own green credentials, especially when it comes to accreditations like ISO14001.
Take a look at our website for further information and don’t forget to be green!
