The complex move from three sites into a new building, which formed McCarthy’s initial brief, quickly developed over time into a major recycling project and a challenging and extremely rewarding removal.

McCarthy’s planned the relocation of essential furniture, lab equipment, the gym, the music department, books, files, stationery and teaching materials.

Our sustainable approach to item disposal led to us finding as many homes as possible for redundant furniture and equipment, either through resale or by working with recycling partners, to avoid land fill and protect the environment.

McCarthy’s carries out regular moving and storage work for The Henry Moore Institute, The Royal Armouries and Leeds City Museum. A move carried out for the Leeds City Museum involved moving thousands of objects and pieces, many of which were unseen by the public at the time and are now on display, with absolute precision and care.

The care and attention in packing and moving these objects was paramount as they were, quite literally, priceless!

McCarthy’s was awarded the Yorkshire water office moving contract for what was initially a one-year contract – eventually lasting 12 years. McCarthy’s consistently delivered on service and budget, assisting the organisation with everything from porterage works to moving whole departments and buildings.

Often when new desks and furniture systems were purchased and rolled out, McCarthy’s staff were there quietly assembling, disassembling, and recycling furniture and IT equipment.

McCarthy’s undertook a significant move for Brown Butler within Leeds City Centre – with challenging access at the loading address. It involved a tight staircase and a building straight off a bus lane! It was completed over the course of a week and throughout this time the office remained fully operational.

McCarthy’s successfully cleared the well-known Carlsberg/Tetley Office building at Tetley House in Leeds. This was a five-day project which involved the relocation of some of the office furniture and equipment to new office facilities in Leeds and Northampton. We cleared four floors full of furniture, and responsibly disposed of anything no longer required.

Astonish Cleaning products approached McCarthy’s to help the company relocate its offices from Woodhall Road in Bradford to its new purpose built facility in the city. The relocation consisted of moving the Sales, Finance, HR and Laboratory departments, with all their associated furniture and equipment, safely and securely.
