If you’ve taken a trip to Harrogate lately (and if not, why not?), you may have noticed our lovely new building! Not only have we opened a second storage unit behind our original on Ripon Road, so we can offer more space, but our initial building has had a bit (a lot) of a makeover.
We have to say we think it looks fantastic, and hopefully our customers and neighbours agree! McCarthy’s Storage World has been based in Harrogate since 2012, and we underwent our extension last year, increasing our storage space capacity by 50%. This last bit of the jigsaw – our beautiful new storage centre frontage – is the cherry on the cake.
We love Harrogate – and we’re not the only ones. The town is repeatedly voted the best place to live, the happiest place, the most romantic destination and the most glamourous place to reside in surveys around the world. Other claims to fame include hosting the Eurovision Song Content in 1982 (unlikely to happen again given we rarely score above nil points nowadays). It’s the home to the country’s last, fully working Turkish Bath, which dates back to the 19th Century. There’s the wonderful Harrogate spa waters which were discovered in the 16th century. Full Monty actor Hugo Speer, and Downton Abbey favourite Jim Carter both come from the town. Agatha Christie was once found in a Harrogate Hotel, having disappeared from her Surrey home. There’s the stunning Valley Gardens, The Stray and RHS Harlow Carr, Betty’s and its famous Fat Rascal – really, what’s not to love?

Documents are taken to our secure shredding facility – or can even be shredded in our mobile shredding van. You receive a certificate of destruction, which is useful from a GDPR perspective – you can be sure any contact details or personal information has been destroyed. And all our shredded paper is recycled so you’re also doing your bit for the environment. We can even shred electronic items in accordance with WEEE too – you don’t want any information from an old hard drive or mobile phone getting into the wrong hands!
