The most expensive addresses in Leeds

House prices are something us Brits love to talk about. Whether it’s how tricky it is now for first time buyers to get a foot on the ladder, how much our house may have increased (or decreased) in value, how much Mrs Bloggs down the road got for her house when it sold or how much Kim Kardashian’s latest mansion cost, we can’t get enough of it.

An Englishman’s home is his castle, the saying goes, so it’s only natural that we like to ensure our investment, in terms of love, renovations and that monthly mortgage bill, is paying off.

So, if you’re thinking about buying in Leeds, where might you be looking at the best return on your investment? We can’t claim to have a crystal ball, but thanks to the local Yorkshire Evening Post, we can tell you what the most expensive streets are to buy on in the city!

Bear in mind that the average house price in Leeds is currently quite an impressive £214,587, according to Zoopla. But if you wanted to buy a house on the most expensive street in the city, you’d head to Roundhay Park Lane, at a slightly more eye watering £1,730,000! Of course, having the wonderful Roundhay Park a short walk away (not forgetting Tropical World and the meercats), and lovely countryside and three golf courses on your doorstep would be amazing – but you might want to start saving now if you want to set up home there.

It’s less than a mile to the next street on the list – Manor House Lane, with a £1.5m average price tag – and then again another mile or so towards Alwoodley and number five on the list – Sandmoor Drive, with a £1.35m average value.

Number three on the list is Harewood Road in the lovely East Keswick (£1.414m) – not far from the spectacular Harewood House or the convenient riverside town of Wetherby. And to complete the top five, at number four we have Ling Lane in Scarcroft at £1.37m.

All beautiful places to live – but then we might be a bit biased as we think Leeds is full of great places to set up home, whatever your budget, and whether you’re renting or buying. Over the last 12 months 7,696 houses have sold in Leeds, according to Zoopla (we hope they all used a good BAR registered removals company!)

But often, as Kirsty and Phil have told us many a time, it’s a toss up between location and the house itself. Sometimes you can’t have it all! Which is where self storage can come in. Whether you’re renting or buying, if you’ve found exactly where you want to live but the house hasn’t got quite as much storage as you hoped (maybe it’s lacking a garage or loft, or you were hoping for a spare room) – why not consider storing with McCarthy’s? Storage units start at just £6 a month (so not quite Roundhay prices yet!) and your items are kept entirely safe and private – and you can access them whenever you need to. Our self storage centre is conveniently placed just outside Leeds’ city centre on Meanwood Road and there’s plenty of free parking so you can come and go, and load and unload as suits you.

Or perhaps the property of your dreams needs a bit of TLC – store your furniture and non-essential bits and bobs with us while you do it up. No need to live in permanent clutter in the liveable rooms while the others get renovated.

So, while McCarthy’s Storage World might not be the most expensive Leeds’ address to rent in, we reckon you’re be blown away with the value for money!
