OK, OK…we admit it. Shredding isn’t the sexiest of topics. If you’re on a first date, it’s probably not one of the topics you want to get on to discussing.
Of course, we’re pretty fond of it – and we do like to talk about it. Quite a lot.

Ison Harrison and McCarthy’s Safe Shred have been working together now for just over three years. We have tailored a special shredding service for the company to fit around their needs, and to keep disruption to a minimum. An early morning service ensures everything happens before most of the staff are even at their desks – and also allows us to miss the city centre traffic so we can be on our way quicker!
Because not every office has the same amount of confidential waste to dispose of, we also vary the number of collections – for example, head office is visited fortnightly, but some of the other branches are once every four weeks. But these can be altered as needed by agreement.
Paul Allinson, Facilities Manager at Ison Harrison, explains further: “We’re known as The Leeds Law Firm, so we like to work with other companies with a proud local heritage, which is what we got with McCarthy’s – along with a service and pricing structure which worked for us and a supplier who could deliver and go the extra mile.

As a law firm we obviously have quite a large volume of confidential waste, and we wanted to work with a company who could destroy it properly, and without any fuss. With McCarthy’s it’s straightforward and not something we have to worry about. There’s also the extra bonus of the company’s green credentials. We know all the shredded waste goes off to be recycled, which is important to us. At Ison Harrison we promote recycling in all our branches and very little goes to landfill so it is very important that we do our bit to make the planet a better place to live.”
Of course, we couldn’t let Paul go without one last, probing and vitally important question on shredding. If McCarthy’s came up with a magic shredder which could get rid of any TV show or film permanently, what would Paul be handing us to go in there?
“Any soaps,” Paul concludes. “Oh, and that irritating advert ‘Bye Bye to the PPI’. And maybe it’s time to make sure Arnie doesn’t come back…”
