Once a market town, Pudsey now acts as one of the largest metropolitan boroughs in the city of Leeds and incorporates Calverley, Farsley and Stanningley. The recently refurbished Pudsey Market, which operates Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays as well as a monthly farmers’ market, offers a range of stalls from food to crafts.

Bus – The £2million Pudsey Bus Station opened in November 2010 and has now links Pudsey to Leeds city centre, Bradford, Halifax and other surrounding towns.

Rail – New Pudsey railway station actually lies in Farsley and acts as a stop for commuters into Leeds city centre. It also links Pudsey to Manchester Victoria, Blackpool, York and other northern towns and cities on the Calder Valley Line.

Air – Leeds Bradford International Airport is Pudsey’s closest airport but its train links to Manchester and Blackpool provide simple access to airports in both towns.

Another former England cricket captain, Raymond Illingworth and fast bowler Matthew Hoggard were also born in Pudsey.
