Not only is it our 50th birthday this year, but we’ve received a bit of news which has given us another reason to celebrate!
We’re absolutely delighted to announce that we’ve made the shortlist in the national Domestic Mover of the Year Awards 2018. And to make it even more exciting, we’re the only removals firm in Yorkshire, and in fact actually the entire North to make the list!
The prestigious British Association of Removers (BAR) awards are open to the more than 400 UK members of the association, so there will have been some tough competition. Six companies have been shortlisted, with us being the only company based further north in the country than the Midlands.
The awards aim to encourage and celebrate high standards, rewarding companies who excel in customer service and focus on the customer experience. That makes the shortlisting even more special, as it’s very important to us that every customer receives the high level of service that they deserve from friendly, professional members of our staff.
The next stages of the judging process include the judges interviewing recent customers and conducting a site visit – wish us luck! The winner will be announced at the BAR Conference in Bournemouth in May.
It’s staggering to think that Mick McCarthy started out in 1968 offering a small man and van service, from a tiny terraced house in Leeds. And here we are, half a century later, with a business run by his son Mike, which has grown and diversified but still very much has removals at its heart.
Of course we offer domestic and commercial removals to customers across Yorkshire, moving homes and businesses anywhere in the world, with the help of our 15 removals vans (and the assistance of an aeroplane/boat if we’re moving someone over the other side of the globe!). But, now we also offer self storage centres in Leeds, Harrogate and Wakefield and serviced offices, along with document management and shredding services for businesses. There’s 45 people in the team – good job we’re not all still squashed in that Leeds’ terrace!
It would be great to be able to bring home the award and we hope to do Yorkshire – and the North – proud. But either way, well done to our fantastic team – we’re over the moon to have been shortlisted, and we couldn’t have done it with you!
