Apparently, when it comes to where you’re living – quite a lot!
The Yorkshire Post ran a story this week based on a Barclays Mortgages study on what your street name means when it comes to house prices.
I was delighted to hear – living on a Lane myself – that it’s probably added a fifth to my property value! In Yorkshire, streets with Lane in the title were worth an average of £171,334 as compared with an average regional price of £145,949.
Way and Road followed behind that – but unfortunately if you live on a Street or Drive, you’re looking at much lower prices…
Thinking of some prime locations around Leeds and Yorkshire, we can certainly see examples of where a Lane is a much in demand address – but we can just as easily think of Streets and Drives that offer similar!
So I wouldn’t cancel putting the house on the market, or think you’ll be able to lower your offer on any Main Street homes using this as a bargaining tool!
