With less than two weeks to go before the big day, our thoughts are turning to the giving of gifts to our loved ones. Some particularly clever/annoying people may have even finished their Christmas shopping already!
It’s no secret that us Brits love to splurge during the festive season. In fact, in 2015 we spent over £42 billion during the month of December alone. Recent research by RetailMeNot found that UK households will anticipate spending an average of £473.83 each on presents this year, making us far more extravagant than our European neighbours. In France and Germany for example, that number is far lower at £273.48 and £344.09 respectively.
This year we are expected to stretch our budgets once again in a bid to snap up 2016’s must have pressies. Cards Against Humanity, the Amazon Firestick, the Sony PlayStation Slim, the iPhone 7 and Hatchimals are all topping gift charts with some being so hard to get hold of that they are tripling in price when re-sold on websites such as eBay. All of this has contributed to experts predicting that the nation will spend more this year than ever before.
After all that expense, it of course makes sense to make sure they’re carefully wrapped and delivered to their intended recipient. We spotted a helpful gift wrapping guide from House of Fraser with advice on colours, style and most importantly how to package up awkwardly shaped items such as the ever tricky bottle of wine.
If you need to send your pretty parcels further afield, we recommend using a sturdy box and packing materials to ensure it arrives in tip top condition. Our online Box Shop is the perfect place to scope out exactly what you need. We have a range of boxes ranging from small and medium sizes right up to the ‘golf club box’, perfect for protecting, well you guessed it – golf clubs!
As well as the boxes, we also have a selection of items that are built to protect including bubble wrap, packing paper and polystyrene loosechips. Once bundled up and safe, packages can be finished off with white parcel tape or fragile tape.
Finally, if you have some particularly large items on their way to lucky people this Christmas our Man and Van service could be perfect for you. Once they’re perfectly packaged, we will be on hand to help with your transportation. Perfect for the electric car your little one has been dreaming of or the brand-new sofa you’ve been waiting for all year! If you’ve been good of course!
