Getting to know…Ann, the Move Co-ordinator

Many of you will already know some of the names and faces at McCarthy’s – maybe you’ve moved with us previously, or you’re a regular at one of our self storage centres.

It’s fair to say we’re very proud of our team – they are the experts in what we do, day-to-day, who could answer any question you throw their way on the subjects of moving home, storage, shredding, archiving and so much more!

For those of you who haven’t met the team, we wanted to shine a spotlight on some of them, letting you know about what they do, who they are, and – ultimately – how they might be able to help you.

First up, is the lovely Ann O’Sullivan.

Name:  Ann O’Sullivan

Age: 51

Where she lives: Leeds

Ann is a Move Co-ordinator at McCarthy’s, and in the 11 years she’s been with us, there’s not much she’s hasn’t seen, heard or been asked when it comes to moving house. If you want to know the ins and outs about removals, or you’ve a worry you wanted to discuss, she’s the woman to speak to. In her words, the thing she enjoys most about her job is “helping clients and making sure they have a fantastic experience with McCarthy’s”. Hear hear.

Ann’s role involves a lot of the day-in day-out interaction with our customers and potential clients, so that may involve contacting people who have made enquiries, making appointments for the estimators, typing quotations, talking prospective clients through the process and explaining costs, and booking in removals jobs. She also ensures that home-movers are sent home contents forms, so they can factor in what needs moving, and she even helps clients complete them so they can get a quote if they are unable to accommodate a visit from an estimator for any reason. A big chunk of her work is helping customers with any general enquiries or questions they may have – she is a font of knowledge after more than a decade in the job!

Alongside her role in removals, Ann also wears another McCarthy’s hat. She helps set up storage accounts for customers – sometimes the two areas overlap, if removals’ customers are putting items in self storage when they move out – so a good understanding of both areas of the business really helps when it comes to advice and recommendations for home-movers.

Over the years Ann has also helped out in other areas of the business –  from planning diaries and allocating vans and crews, to helping in the Business Centre situated alongside McCarthy’s Storage World in Leeds.

There are no standard days in the office, as Ann explains: “It’s fair to say, no two days are the same. Every person’s situation is different so you have to treat them differently. People should expect a personal service, that’s tailored to them, and that’s what we strive to achieve. The team at McCarthy’s are hardworking and dedicated and as a customer that’s what you need, to make sure you’re getting the best.

“Moving house can be a stressful time for homeowners, and we understand that. There are often challenges to overcome and with estate agents and solicitors and buyers to manage it can seem a very complicated process, which is difficult to manoeuvre. But that’s why we’re here – to help make planning the move itself stress-free and ultimately to ensure belongings are safely transported from A to B, as quickly, easily and carefully as possible. A calm, sensible approach is what you need.”
