Christmas Tree Recycling

Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree…

Christmas-Tree

It may only just have been put up – but have you thought about what you’re going to do with your Christmas Tree come January?? (if it’s a real one – we’re assuming the fake ones will go back in the loft until next December!)

Here at McCarthy’s we’re delighted to once again be supporting the St. Gemma’s Hospice Christmas Tree recycling service.

We’ll be providing vans and manpower to help collect Christmas trees from all over Leeds. All we ask is for a donation in return for the ease of having your used Christmas trees picked up and recycled at Council Waste sites. Much easier than struggling with it yourself, scattering needles all over your car, or leaving it in your garden looking sorry for itself!

Leeds residents in the following postcodes can register for the service at www.st-gemma.co.uk/treecollection  : LS6, LS7, LS8, LS9, LS13, LS14, LS15, LS16, LS17, LS18, LS19, LS20, LS21, LS28 and LS29. The collection dates will be Thursday 7th, Friday 8th and Saturday 9th of January 2016.

Last year we helped collect nearly 700 trees, which raised £7,000 of much needed funds for The Hospice.  St Gemma’s is based in Moortown, Leeds, and provides the best possible care and quality of life for local people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Care provided is free of charge to patients and their families so St Gemma’s relies on donations and local fundraising initiatives in the community.

So what better way to start the new year – you can feel good about helping a very worthwhile charity, being ‘green’ and also getting your house spick and span once the decorations come
