Happy Yorkshire Day!

We love Yorkshire, and we’re proud of our Yorkshire heritage. Forty nine years and counting, based in God’s Own County! Our head office has always been in Leeds, and in the last few years we’ve also opened self storage centres in Harrogate and Wakefield.

We’ve moved people the length and breadth of the county – from Hull to Horsforth, Barnsley to Bradford and Scarborough to Skipton – but we’ve also moved people to the very North of Scotland and the very tip of Cornwall. In almost five decades, there’s not many places we haven’t been!

That includes moving people abroad (and no, we don’t just mean to Lancashire). If, for some unbeknown reason, someone wants to leave the Ridings (!), we will help them pack up and store or move their belongings as appropriate. No matter what the appeal of Australia, the US or Spain, it can’t be a patch on Yorkshire surely?!

At McCarthy’s we like to think we uphold what might be seen as being traditional Yorkshire values – honesty, reliability, value for money and quality. We’ll always be open and upfront when it comes to advising you on your home move or self storage requirement – and hopefully that is proven by the number of word of mouth recommendations we get and our loyal customer base. We have customers who used us to move in the 70s – and we’ve moved them several times since!

If you’re looking for ideas of things to do to celebrate Yorkshire Day Yorkshire Life and Welcome to Yorkshire have some ideas. But we reckon the best way to celebrate is to enjoy anything and everything Yorkshire has to offer.

We have some of the best countryside in the country on our doorstep – wherever in the region you live, it’s not likely to be too far away. We also have wonderful, vibrant cities, bustling market towns and quaint, picturesque villages by the bucketload. As the largest county in England, there’s sure to be something to tickle your fancy without leaving its borders.

Maybe your Yorkshire Day will be spent exploring a new destination, perhaps it will be at work or maybe it will be spent doing jobs on your own little corner of the region. Remember, even though really it should be a national holiday in our mind (ahem!), our self storage facilities are here as needed with round the clock access available. Similarly our removals teams and estimators don’t even get the day off, so they’re here if you need to ask them anything.

However you’re spending Yorkshire Day, get the kettle on and make thissen a nice cup of Yorkshire tea. Mine’s white with one. Cheers to Yorkshire!
