There’s been much talk of how now could be a great time for first time buyers to take that first step onto the property ladder. With low interest rates and a slower market it’s a great combination. Even interest rates on mortgages which require less of a deposit, which tend to be aimed at first time homeowners, are relatively low.
If you’ve decided the time is right to think about taking that step on to the property ladder, it’s an exciting time. Keeping a watchful eye on the estate agent’s websites, agreeing your mortgage and starting to think about what your lovely new home will look like…
But decking out a new house is an expensive task and can take some time, so many people begin while the house hunt is ongoing. Spreading out the purchases and making the most of any generous household item donations from family and friends can definitely help (OK, you may not want that ‘vintage’ dresser from great aunt Vera, but the solid wood dining table which your parents are replacing and are happy to hand over is a big win!)
If you’re starting a stockpile of items for your new house, a self storage unit can be a fantastic help. Somewhere safe and secure, where you can access your stuff whenever you need to – but you’re not falling over it every five minutes…sounds good, right?
Here at McCarthy’s we can offer storage units of all shapes and sizes, so you can get exactly what you need. Our staff can offer you advise on what size of storage you might need, depending on how much stuff you’re planning on storing. And if you start off needing one size, but then need a bigger unit (you decided to grab a new three piece suite in the sales), don’t worry. We’ll happily try and find you a new unit which is just right.
We have self storage centres in Leeds, Harrogate and Wakefield, and will be opening next year in York. The storage centres are only accessible via individual pin codes and your storage unit is secured by lock and key, which only you can open. We can’t even get in without you!
You can gain access whenever needed – so if you suddenly need to check how much crockery you bought on the last visit to IKEA, it’s not a problem. There’s ample car parking at all our sites, which are all easily accessible on major roads. Unloading is made as easy as possible with trolleys and lifts to help you get from car to unit without having to make dozens of trips.
There’s no requirement for long term contracts and you only pay for the dates you use – so once you know your move date, just let us know and we’ll get that sorted. Although some people choose to keep their things in storage a little bit longer so they have time to redecorate or do any DIY in their new home without having everything to work around.
We can even help with a man and van service if you need some way of transporting your items to or from the storage centres. And when the time comes for moving – we happen to know a pretty good removals firm who can help too…
