St Gemma’s Hospice which is well-known within the city of Leeds is also based in the area. It is one of the largest hospices in England and provides care for people with life threatening illnesses. There are often fundraising events in Leeds held for St Gemma’s Hospice.

Leisure & Attractions if Moving to Moortown

Street Lane runs right through the centre of Moortown towards Roundhay Park and is a popular area for residents wanting to eat or drink out. As well as pubs, bars and restaurants, Street Lane has some well-known places to eat out namely the Flying Pizza which is famous throughout the city.

Moortown’s location next to Roundhay means that some fantastic attractions are on a resident’s doorstep. These include one of Europe’s biggest city parks – Roundhay Park and Tropical World which attracts a large number of visitors each year. Moortown Golf Club, which is actually situated in neighbouring Alwoodley, played host to the Ryder Cup in 1929 which was the first time the competition was held on British soil.
